Nickel Plate Jazz Orchestra
Nickel Plate Jazz Orchestra is a 20-piece professional big band / jazz orchestra founded in 2013 and originally directed by Todd McCready. The orchestra performs multiple concerts a year in the Fishers, Indiana area.
The band plays many different styles of Jazz. Everything from Count Basie, Jazz Standards, Herbie Hancock and famous big band charts of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Etc.

About The Director
Mark B. Levenson is a professional saxophonist, music educator, and conductor. Mark was a Middle School and High School Band Director in Minnesota. Mark was the first band director at Mariner High School in White Bear Lake, MN. He had 250 students in the band program, directed 3 concert bands, 2 Jazz Ensembles (for credit), taught conducting and instrument repair. Mark is a classical saxophonist, was first alto in the Sarasota professional Concert Band and currently baritone sax in the Hamilton Community Band. He is an accomplished conductor and has been private teaching since 1966 and has mentored many students into first chair positions. In 1969, Dr. Frank Bencriscutto, director of bands at the University of Minnesota, took the Minnesota Concert Band Ensemble on a seven-week tour of the Soviet Union, sponsored by the US State Department and the Russian Government, culminating with a concert in the White House Rose Gardens for President Richard Nixon. Under the mentorship of Dr. Frank Bencriscutto, Mark has enjoyed and participated in many high-level musical endeavors, including but not limited to concerts with, Clark Tery, Urbie Green, Steve Allen and many other outstanding musicians. Mark is an Eagle Scout and believes totally in the development and mentoring of students. He has worked with youth and adults for his entire career.
