Igniting the Community
Fishers Music Works is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 2013 to foster the enjoyment and appreciation of music within the City of Fishers and surrounding areas, by working in concert with the Music Director, Assistant Music Director and the Executive Director of FMW, for the purpose of producing public concerts of the highest quality, providing performance opportunities for local professional, semi-professional, and amateur musicians, collaborating with local artists and arts organizations for public benefit and enjoyment, and providing educational opportunities and taking part in similar activities.
Fishers Music Works owns numerous bands and music ensembles including (in no particular order) White River Chamber Orchestra, White River Wind Symphony, Fishers Community Chorus, Mudsock Jazz Combo, Projekt:Opera, and Nickel Plate Jazz Orchestra. See the menu for additional information about each of these music ensembles.
In addition to our music making we also engage in educational activities within the community. Our popular music instrument petting zoo that allows young and old to touch, explore, and play various music instruments can be found at many community events including the Fishers Farmer’s Market and Fishers Fire Department Safety Day. We have also provided a clinic for hundreds of local students taught by American publisher, educator, and jazz saxophonist Jamey Aebersold.
Executive Board and Board of Directors
Our all-volunteer Board of Directors consists of local business owners and community activists including professional musicians, artists, attorneys, and accountants. Our Board of Directors is lead by a an Executive Board consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Board of Directors, which includes the Executive Board, meets once per month for planning purposes. The Executive Board meets separately once per month to discuss executive matters. In addition to the Board we have multiple committees and volunteers who assist in our many concerts and community events.
