On March 10, Fishers Music Works will present a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Fishers students and musicians at large to meet and learn from internationally acclaimed jazz instrumentalist, music educator, and author Jamey Aebersold. Hoosier native Aebersold will bring to life his “Play-A-Long” series of instructional books at Fishers High School for an in-school workshop called “Anyone Can Improvise.
Aebersold, the National Endowment for the Arts’ 2014 Jazz Masters Award recipient, will also host his “And You Thought You Couldn’t Play Jazz” workshop later in the evening at 6:30 pm. This workshop will be open to the public and followed immediately by a concert featuring Jamey, his jazz combo, FMW’s Nickel Plate Jazz Orchestra, and several student musicians from Hamilton County Schools!
FMW is now accepting donations and sponsorships for this and other future clinics and workshops. A portion of all ticket sales proceeds will be donated to the Fishers High School Band programs. For more information about participation or to purchase tickets for the evening workshop, concert or both, visit www.fishersmusicworks.org. Student tickets to the concert are free, but must still be ordered and presented at the event.
